The Mutuus Made "Grip Light" appropriates an auto machining technique called knurling typically used for pistons, internal combustion engines, tool handles and mechanical pencils to create a pendant light that elevates this industrial technique.
"One of the hallmarks of our Mutuus Made collection is drawing inspiration from techniques I learned growing up as a kid in Tacoma building cars and motorcycles. When I was a kid we didn't have nice things we made nice things". - Saul Becker
The exterior surface of the aluminum cylindrical shade is knurled on a lathe to create a diamond-patterned surface which bounces and catches the light beautifully.
The anodized aluminum piece in a custom color by artist and Mutuus Partner Saul Becker.
